To kick start your summer, Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center presents Summerfest which is held each weekend from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Summerfest salutes summer, naturally, with live music, a huge sand box for the children, roving artists and performers, Chinese acrobat shows, laser light and water shows, mini cirque-style performances, wine and cheese tastings and too much more to name here.

 

The Tennessee Jazz and Blues Society performs on the lawns of two historic homes every Sunday night from May until October. The TJBS encourages guests to come out and enjoy hot blues with cool jazz during these months. Don’t forget to pack your picnic and bring blankets in case there is a chill in the air.

 

Two must-attend events in Music City during the month of June are the CMA Music Festival (formerly known as Fan Fair) and Taste of Music City. During the CMA festival, over 160,000 fans will converge on downtown Nashville throughout the week to hear more 40 hours of live music performed by over 200 artists. Fans who visit during the daytime can attend events such as autograph signings, fishing, archery tournaments and even Q&A sessions with the artists themselves.

 

Taste of Music City is sure to be a real treat as guests sample food and wine from the area’s top restaurants. This event is located on the wonderful Gateway Bridge and also includes live jazz music from local musicians.

 

When we think of the month of July our first thought is…fireworks! Music City does fourth of July better than most by opening its Riverfront Park for a one-day event of free entertainment and fireworks.  This event is presented by Southwest Airlines and draw crowds of more than 100,000 people each year. Also, music this year includes top country music acts and the Grammy winning Nashville Symphony.

 

For the month of August, tourist and locals alike don’t like to miss the annual Fiddling’ Brewin’ Bar-B-Q’N Cook-Off! This finger-licking event presents local beers from Yazoo Brewing Company and some of the best barbeque from several regions. There will be live music, children’s activities, entertainment and even a dessert competition.
