Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art in Nashville (aka Music City), Tennessee
The second annual exhibition, Scarecrows, will be on display at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Art Museum from September 27 through November 9. The community and visitors alike are invited to participate by designing one of the many scarecrows that will be displayed.
Visitors will find dozens of fabulous, weird, funny, and traditional scarecrows lurking along Cheekwood’s paths.
Those designers who are selected will receive the framework for the Scarecrow and will be responsible for construction, installation, and removal of each structure. To find out more about participating in the exhibition, visit www.cheekwood.org.
While the scarecrow’s history dates back some 3000 years, all over the world farmers still use them today during their growing season. The scarecrow’s duty is to guard his farmer’s field and scare away pesky animals that eat at the farmer’s produce such as corn.
Cheekwood’s Scarecrows is already a fall tradition for Middle Tennessee families!
By making art, horticulture and nature accessible to a diverse community, Cheekwood inspires and educates almost any visitor of any age. Cheekwood is located at 1200 Forrest Park Drive in Nashville, 8 miles southwest of downtown Nashville.
